It's important to us that we ensure our training providers and learners have access to the resources they need to enhance their chances of exam success.

Our suite of resources includes videos on subject-specific areas and dedicated worksheets, which have been designed to allow the learner to focus on specific topics and put their knowledge to the test in preparation for a successful exam outcome.

Access a range of mock assessments either onscreen or paper-based. 

Learners completing onscreen assessment will utilise our very own assessment platform, Highfield Core, which is an exact mirror of our live assessment platform. This allows learners to become familiar with ease of navigation, before their live exam.  

Highfield Core allows learners to send their mock assessment straight to their tutor for marking and evaluation, giving the perfect opportunity to identify any further learning needed prior to their live assessment.

We believe it's key that to get the best out of your learners, you understand their strengths and weaknesses at the very start of their course. That's why we provide free initial diagnostic assessment with every functional skills learner registration.

We recommend that following the completion of the assessment, learners should aim to achieve a functional skills qualification at least 1 level above the assessment, to ensure they are progressing their skills.

We also recommend that the outcome of the diagnostic should be used to inform the programme delivery, meaning it can be adapted in accordance with the specific needs of learners and/or local circumstances.

This assessment service is made available through complimentary access to the Skills Assessment platform.

When delivering our functional skills qualifications, our approved-centres can choose from 3 different assessment methods. These include:

• paper-based assessment - where the learner sits a traditional paper-based examination at a suitable location chosen by the approved-centre, which is invigilated by a representative of the centre on-site.
• physical on-screen assessment - where the learner sits an examination using a laptop or tablet device at a suitable location chosen by the approved-centre, which is invigilated by a representative of the centre on-site.
• remote on-screen assessment - where the learner sits an examination using a laptop or tablet device at a remote location (such as their own home), which is remotely invigilated by a Highfield invigilator as the exam happens. Please note that this form of assessment is not included within our 10 free registrations offer, but can be added to the service for an additional charge (please visit here for more information).
